The Animal Center serves as a temporary shelter for homeless pets.
It is our intention to be a safe, caring and temporary place of hope for the thousands of animals entering our shelter each year. Our compassionate staff work diligently to lessen the unnatural & often frightening experience of coming into care at a center.
Whether we meet our guests as strays, lost pets or rescues from cruelty cases, each animal is cared for & provided a safe, clean, & caring environment for the duration of its stay.
Animal Services connects a variety of species, breeds, styles, and colors of pets to their new homes, & doesn’t impose time limits on how long our guests can stay.
For animals that are too young, old, or unhealthy to be placed for adoption, we partner with foster homes &/or rescue groups.
Animal Center services
The Animal Center offers the following services to residents & their pets.
Pet licenses & microchips
You take care of your pet. You give it food, water and vet care. But if you haven't licensed your pet with the county, you're not giving your pet all the care it deserves, & you're in violation of the law.
Neuter Commuter
Animal Services provides lower-cost spay/neuter surgeries for animals of Marion County residents through its Neuter Commuter program.
Connect
Visit our Facebook page to receive news and updates, see some of the pets available for adoption & connect with other pet lovers and adoption groups dedicated to making sure that pets find healthy, safe, & loving homes.
Live Release Rates & Statistics
Animal Services embraced goal to save more lives in 2018 and beyond. Since then, we have saved thousands of lives, which otherwise might be considered at-risk. As a result of our ongoing mission, we need the citizens to participate in our goals by adopting, fostering, and volunteering. We hope all animal lovers will contribute toward our goal of enhancing Marion County's reputation as a pet-friendly community.
