Inmate dog training program

Still seeking homes for Class 38 of the FIDO Project, The Bonus Round Hounds!

Want a dog with a great story & some basic obedience training?

Fill out our Adoption interest form, or email us if you would like to consider adopting one of these special dogs.

Regis is still available & ready to be adopted.

About Regis: He thrives in training class, stays close to his person, & does best with a predictable, daily routine. He is not drawn to adventure or new environments. With slow, thoughtful exposure, he will likely build more confidence over time. Large crowds make him uneasy, so his ideal home will support steady growth and gentle, unforced opportunities to explore & enjoy new experiences. A busy household with frequent guests may not be in his best interest. He is still growing, affectionate, and working with him has been truly rewarding.

We partner with the Marion Correctional Institution Work Camp for this two-month program.

The dogs are taught basic obedience, socialization, & a few fun tricks. The trainers learn patience, dog behavior, basic canine health, journaling, & how to successfully work as a team. As the classes progress, potential adopters should plan to attend our meet & greet events, as well as complete the required application.

All dogs involved in this program will be available for adoption, with the hope that new owners will continue to practice the skills the dogs will have learned during the program. At the end of the training, the new families will be expected to attend the graduation event at the prison & meet the trainers, handlers, & staff.

Schedule & all events are subject to change, please check back regularly to see updates.
