• You must be 18 years of age or older.
• You must live in a residence that allows pets.
• The pet you have chosen must fit within any weight requirements your landlord or community may have. (Remember: puppies get bigger!)
• If you already own animals, they should be up-to-date on their vaccines & county licenses.
• Unless adopter has a kennel license, MCAS will not adopt to someone who has more than fifteen domestic animals at their property.
• You must provide a current drivers license or state-issued identification.
• Animal Services will not adopt to someone who is on the Animal Abuse Registry, has been enjoined from owning animals, has ever been convicted of animal cruelty, or has had any serious animal control ordinance violations.

Please understand that an adoption is not a "sale." We reserve the right to refuse any adoption based on the best interest of the animal & the community.

Breach of adoption contract, violations of ordinances pertaining to animals, intent to violate ordinances, & endanger an animal are possible reasons for refusal.

A partnership with Marion Correctional Institution (MCI), the FIDO Project features pets who have been trained by select inmates of the Marion Correctional Institution Work Camp have embarked on a journey with some of our homeless shelter dogs.

These men will prepare the dogs by training them in basic obedience and socialization.

All dogs involved in this program will be available for adoption, & we hope the new owners will continue to practice the skills that they will have learned at MCI.
